Circular Time Calendars reveal what Linear Timelines conceal.

Use an ancient temporal technology, tried and true, to re-chart your life and work, integrating it more fully into the larger ecological, health, social, economic, and political patterns around you.

Explore together: what kind of calendar system might support wise innovation?

✨ Context & Intention

Tech moves FAST.

Mid-summer is a prime time to pause and review. Especially amidst a year that for many has seen great change. Especially for those of us metabolizing a vibrant garden of life experience on journeys towards greater wholeness: humane founders, responsible AI professionals, Chief Philosophy Officers, wise innovation advocates, holistic engineers, bridge-building coaches and healers serving at the intersection of [tech] & [wisdom].

Circular Time is one of the most powerful and substantial reflection processes out there.

If you care about aligning with Earth Time (not just Clock Time), this is a proven, mind-bending, pattern-interrupting tool to Ground, Reflect, Discern, Compost, and Grow.

Interconnectivity and Systems Thinking | Make connections within your own life and see how your life connects to the greater Life we live within; sense individual and systemic patterns in service of meaningful discernment and strategy.

Ecological Connection | Reconnect time and space in your local place, tracking shifts in seasons and ecology, including what’s growing when and where.

Purpose-Finding | The questions we ask significantly support people in finding their next steps and, over time, their purpose. Create new, and hopefully more empowering, stories for yourself.

Decolonizing | Disentangle from the abstract and colonial linear time frame.

Wisdom | Our community gathering and ritual help illicit wisdom as a function of the whole. Engage and expand the non-linear (aka artistic)mind.

Faithfulness to Your Call | This process can be an integral part of your spiritual growth and personal development.

It’s time to re-imagine the calendar for wise innovation.

Calendars inform consciousness. Different temporal technologies (i.e. a cyclical vs linear calendar) can lead to different embodied experiences of ourselves and our organizations. We can move out of temporal systems that perpetuate the same cosmovisions that informed colonization, and into ones that deepen our connection with the web of life.

Moving fast breaks things. If we want to embody ethics, we need to make some fundamental shifts, including with our relationship to time. From short to long term view, rush to market to slow soil preparation, perpetual growth to ebbs and flows, profit first to adherent to natural cycles first.

What temporal technologies are going to enable us to create a sustainable society? What kind of liturgical calendar would support wise innovation? With holidays, stories, and enacted rituals to help individuals, organizations, and communities cohere with each other and align with natural cycles?

Many have been calling for a shift in the process of how we bring ideas into the world. Let’s explore together.

Wise innovation necessitates returning to circular time.

ℹ️ Logistics

Circular Time includes a 3-stage process:

1️⃣ 50+ page e-workbook [ASYNCHRONOUS], beautifully designed and illustrated, that offers some of the history and ideas behind circular calendars; examples from previous participants; and reflective questions. Engage the workbook at your own speed (plan to set aside at least 3 hours, not necessarily all at once), as much as possible prior to Stage 2.

2️⃣ Virtual Community Session [JULY 30 @2pm or 31 @9am PST] with Circular Time facilitator Rev Sara Jolena. Share your circular calendar, collective sense-making, and ritual. Groups capped at 7 people. These 75 minute sessions are opportunities to come together with others who have also created their own circular calendar using our process. They are sweet, precious, and sacred times of sharing our collective cycle around the Sun.

3️⃣ Towards a Calendar for Wise Innovation [WED AUG 7 | 9-1030am PST] with Sara Jolena and Andrew Dunn to discuss liturgical calendars and sustainable economies. We will explore the development of a new calendar for individuals and organizations to find greater alignment with natural cycles and each other.

Let this ancient temporal technology support you and your relationships in gaining balance and alignment in these dynamic times.

How can we work with our inheritances (cultural, financial, stories) to enable legacies that are in line with the earth and a future where the human-earth family can thrive? How do we remove the gunk and the concrete that's currently clogging the springs of life-giving water in our souls and in our streets? ReMembering our origin stories (about ourselves, democracy, climate change, ecosystems) differently is a significant component of that.

Rev. Sara Jolena Wolcott is an unconventional minister, artist, healer, and the Director of Sequoia Samanvaya. Supporting leaders in relating with time differently, enabling greater grounding, discernment, and real life magic. This includes 1-1 eco-spiritual direction, speaking, powerful online courses and leading retreats.

Andrew Murray Dunn is an apprentice and interstitionary at the intersection of human development and innovation, currently focused on co-activating Wise Innovation Project. Before serving as Innovation Lead at Center for Humane Technology, Andrew spent over 10 years in early stage startup operations experience, most notably with the pioneering Public Benefit Corporation Siempo while they developed an award-winning open source humane smartphone interface.
